Cloudstream on android tv, hexated repo and boom everything. Fuck corporate streaming, hit the seas.

As an avid sailor I agree

It looks like a worse version of Stremio, unless there's something I'm missing?

Both apps are horrible. Just having to understand where the hell to find the magic codes to add content to cloudstream is a pain. Stremio is a whole other mess to understand the plugins and which types they are and what are the catalogs and all that stuff, and then it's torrent. But people online all jumped on some poor man solution where you pay for something debrid stupid thing to make stremio use http downloads instead of torrents.

Yeah the apps works, but no one sane can say they are good.

I haven't used stremio in a long time so it might have changed, but cloudstream will remember your currently watching list and will remember where you left off, which is why I like using it, but really it's just a newish streaming app that allows custom repos.

Stremio + torrentio + RealDebrid

This allows Stremio to stream any torrent using the RealDebrid service, which already has cached copies of the most popular downloads so you can watch it instantly from their servers. It also has a great library feature to save followed shows, and progress is saved and synced to your Stremio account.

The only caveat here is that RealDebrid is a paid service, but I only pay around $3 a month and it has literally everything that is on any of the streaming services.

This setup is now my primary means of watching tv and movies, and I say that as someone who has a couple of media servers filled with content and hosted with Plex - this Stremio setup is just too good.

This is a barrier, you would not believe all the people see me weird because I pay to watch pirated stuff lol, even if the amount is so insignificant it raises some eyebrows (here we don't even pay for VPNs because they are not needed, for surfing the seas at least).

So yeah, Cloudstream remains as a fair cheaper (free lol) alternative for Stremio in the Android environment at least.

Indeed CS worked for me better when the Kronch (Crunchyroll streams) addon worked, (last time I checked it was not working, I hope that is not the case) because newer stuff can take some time to make it to the public trackers (which is where Torrentio gathers its stuff).

...and for that reason I'm out

[–] funkajunk@lemm.ee 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I was easily paying over $60 a month for various streaming services, now I pay $3.

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You could be paying $0 is the thing

[–] funkajunk@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

Yeah, I already have a QNAP 8-bay NAS with the *Arr stack pulling tv shows and movies and automatically serving them up in my Plex instance "for free" (because operating costs).

Stremio is just super convenient, and that's what I'm paying for, the convenience. I can just turn it on and start watching random garbage tv and don't have to worry about it taking up space on my server, because it's content that I will probably never watch again.

Cloudstream

Interesting.................. Where might one find sources?
