Just tried again today, even though I wasn't expecting any different results from the last few Imagine my surprise! I'm pretty sure nothing happened on my end (Sync settings or instance).

Yeah, I think the language settings are going to help you out (in Lemmy itself, not the client). I haven't needed to block any community due to language. You'll probably want to keep undetermined, according to the warning:

Warning: If you deselect Undetermined, you will not see most content.

I dont mind the non english its mainly the porn when im out in public
