Why is it tasteless? Is it the depiction of war and unrest or is it the style? Honest question, I'm not in the loop about the movie.

Because a civil war is on the verge of actually happening, if we're not in a cold civil war already

You think the political situation is so unstable in the US? What facts do you base that on?

Has it to do with the election campaign that has just begun?

It has to do with the rise in attacks on people of color and LGBTQ people, and the rise in attempts at legislation to turn back the clock on previously won civil liberties. Extreme factionalism and just general overall increase in violence across the nation, particularly in red states. They're just getting more entrenched in their ways, with some factions actually looking to incite a civil war. They want it.
