Will yes and no. The trick is to shop at the duty free stores when you are driving across the border to get US like prices on liqour.
They typically will have the best deals on alcohol in Canada because of the ancient prohibitionist influence on our liquor laws are avoided. Not sure if this loophole has been closed yet though
