This isn't a very good guide. There are a bunch of gottas for Proxmox and I am sure it is the same deal for XCP-NG.

For adding modules I personally had to switch to grub. You can switch over with Proxmox boot tool.
I'm going through it rn for Proxmox, it's a pain in the ass.
I think it was better a tad on ESXi, but VMware stuff is a non starter for me at this point.
I can really recommend XCP-ng. For me it strikes a pretty good balance of features and ease of use.
