In the context of this community and the movement in general, ‘self-hosting’ is designed to contrast against the larger trend of “let me just trust one of the big cloud companies with all my stuff”. We’ve seen how that can go very, very wrong. So, the idea of maintaining control of your data and the methods by which it is accessed is the heart of ‘self-hosting’. It’s not meant to restrict one to only computers stored in one’s home.

Make sure your home server config isn’t mistaking this client as a remote user. Check your networking, etc

Wasn’t that when Fury went away to spend time on that other planet. It’s brought up a few times in Secret I vision that Fury was ‘back after his time away’. I may be misremembering. I’m not going to rewatch that train wreck to confirm that detail.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop. Surely, they don’t expect us to accept this mis-matched bunch as The Avengers.

Ok, but you came seeking us. Please do us the kindness of answering the question while also pointing us towards the FAQs.

I know it’s easy internet likes to make a snarky political meme. But, can we not involve Star Trek? Why do we have to pollute this space with toxic politics? It’s everywhere else. Why does it have to be here?

So, use something else, like Seafile.

Well, unless you feel like writing that feature into this project, perhaps you could modify your requirements slightly. Copying your local file to a share that’s also mounted to this handbrake-web instance would accomplish the same goal - taking local files and having them processed by this backend service.

Interesting. Is it fair to say you’ve created a web interface to standard image manipulation tools ?

As is stated in the title, I created and moderated !prolife@lemmy.world. According to the modlog, this community was removed 10 days ago. The modlog doesn't show me who removed the community. I understand the community wouldn't necessarily be everyone's cup of tea, but the actions taken seem improper.

EDIT

After making my case via email to info@lemmy.world, I received the following response:

"We would rather not have a prolife community on our instance. We were getting a lot of reports about it and we have enough on our plate. I'm sure you can find an instance that better suits your needs."

This community was incredibly small (19 subscribers), had less than 10 postings, and had several waves of trollings. Yet, the admins of lemmy.world would rather do away with this community than bother to review if it has broken any rules or is the target of trolling/bullying. I take nothing away from the right to run their instance as they see fit. Perhaps the Code of Conduct should also explicitly state "we reserve the right to do anything we want, regardless of any published rules".
