I don't mean obvious ones like Minecraft. I'm looking for interesting ones like Runescape for instance

All FOSS games that support multiplayer usually allow to host games. This includes Frozenbubble, Battle for Wesnoth, 0 A.D., Freeciv, OpenArena and UFO: Alien Invasion (and probably many more).
