Old laptops can are actually great servers—hear me out:

  • Built in KVM
  • Low power consumption
  • Battery = UPS for power blips
  • SSD (sometimes)
  • Wifi + Ethernet = Redundant NICs
  • Quiet (sometimes)
  • Small form factor
