Then do something small without the big studios, Vince. The bar to self produce has never been cheaper. If you and your buddies can make Swingers as nobodies, what's really stopping you now?
And comedy, even moreso than horror, can be done on a small budget as long as your script is good enough.
I'd argue it's almost impossible to be really independent nowadays. At least in a profitable manner.
Streamers don't pay very much, if you're not directly contracted by them, TV and DVD are dead, and in order to be successful at the traditional box office you need big studio money for promotion.
Vince is probably well off, but not rich enough to just self finance a movie.
