Nextcloud now supports federation including activity pub!

What is the value in federating Nextcloud instances? Sharing calendar info and stuff like that?

You can collaborate across instances. Think a video call where you can all edit one file.

Also it now supports activity pub so you can interact with Lemmy and Mastodon

Maybe Google Docs style online collaboration in a document? So if you limit access to certain folks only, they don't necessarily have to be on the same instance as you.
