I've setup my own federated podcast through Castopod, but unsure of how to federate it with Lemmy directly. It'll be project-focused around FOSS tooling and just enjoying life.

Any suggestions on better integrating it with Lemmy? Thanks all.

Not sure, but when you find out, post here. I'll join!

I tried, but it tells me to provide a handle, which I don't have on podcast.james.network. Maybe I misunderstood?

Ah, if you want to interact with the podcast it is treated as a fediverse actor. The "Follow" button is listed on the site or click https://podcast.james.network/@linuxprepper/follow

Right, but what would me my handle? My Lemmy handle?

Edit: I downloaded FeedFlow just to add the rss lol.

According to your profile: @01189998819991197253@infosec.pub

So it works with Lemmy handles? Sweet! I'm trying now.

Edit: Doesn't work. "Could not fetch". That's ok, I'll use the rss for now : )

[–] kiol@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Definitely let me know if it doesn't. Thanks.

I added it as an edit to the original. It didn't work. “Could not fetch” was the error. That's fine. I am using the rss anyway : )

Honestly, I don't know. I put in the handle, logged in, and was presented with the error. The only other time I saw this error is when I tried joining a community my instance wasn't federated with. Possibly related here, too, but I'm not sure.

I can follow it from MBin (by following @linuxprepper@podcast.james.network), but the link doesn't work for me for some reason

[–] kiol@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sorry, what link doesn't work? 👀

This one - https://podcast.james.network/@linuxprepper/follow

It says "Seems like the account server does not allow remote follows…", hmmm

The handle on the fediverse is @linuxprepper@podcast.james.network
