As Marvel fans get some bad news, Predator fans get some great news. Disney has dated the next installment in the long-running sci-fi franchise.

Per Deadline, the officially titled Predator: Badlands will hit theaters on Nov. 7, 2025, taking the release date of Marvel Studios' Blade reboot, which has been delayed indefinitely. Badlands, which was first announced in February 2024, will be the first Predator movie to receive a theatrical release since 2018's The Predator. The previous entry, 2022's Prey, was released straight to Hulu, much to the chagrin of the Predator franchise. Badlands reunites the creative team of Prey, with Dan Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison back as director and screenwriter, respectively.

While plot details remain under wraps for Badlands, which reportedly began filming in August in New Zealand, the movie is said to be set "sometime in the future," focusing on two sisters who are put to the ultimate test as they pursue divergent paths and missions. No cast members have been officially announced for Badlands, although The Great star Elle Fanning was previously reported to be in negotiations for a lead role back in June.

Predator films have been solid in recent years and Prey was one of the best in a long time. Alien films have felt like flogging a dead horse for a long time.

I love Prey so much, in my head, it's almost as good as the original. I had such high hopes for Romulus and was left feeling so disappointed.

Looking forward to Badlands. Don't let me down Dan!

Terminator 6, Jurassic Park 8.... Just stop, no one is asking for these. They're a product of Hollywoods monopolistic business model, a formula by which they know they can get X amount of nostalgia dollars and free advertising through name recognition.

Same thing (for much the same reasons) is starting to happen with videogame sequels too.

i remember playing assassins creed 3 and thinking "fuck...haven't i already played this game? twice?" and yet it's still a behemoth franchise..
