I feel like there are two main types of customers for the 9800x3xd.

  1. people who are trying to get 400 fps on a PvP shooter at low resolution and settings for a competitive edge. They will see the large increase you mentioned.

  2. people trying to game at high resolution and high settings. They will not see much of an increase. This will be the majority of people buying the CPU since the number of ppl at the skill level needed for the first category is low.

It's overkill for any other type of gaming imo and things like ml and rendering work better with higher core processors.

Since category 2 is the majority and won't see a noticeable difference, I think it's worth mentioning.
