Yepp, that's exactly the point of the site linked in the post. I could even say: yes, that's the joke.
it's per capita cheese consumption though, so shouldn't it be independent to population increase?
they are just random statistics which are randomly correlating. it's funny. that's it. don't imagine too much into it.
