Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing other users of being bots or paid actors.
- No memes, trolling, misinformation, or low-effort posts/comments (including reposts). If you see posts like this that anger you, do not engage. Report, block, and live a happier life than they do. Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. Thanks so much! I saw an article elsewhere about the plans to "slow down." Performative.
Not actually performative, it's one of the few things they really have power to do without republicans support. They can drag specific types of nominations out to end to taking something like almost a year to get through all of them. And take up limited senate floor time for other bills, legislation, etc in the meantime
There are hundreds of nominations they need to get through
My understanding, is that historically, the minimum debate times thresholds for nominations have been waved away via unanimous consent - especially for minor positions. If one senator objects, then you have to go the whole time
Another thing they can do is force quorum calls to waste time counting people present. Usually quorum is assumed
They need to start dragging specific people into the streets for the proletariat to handle.

Yep, and they're already making demands, but its in March, and note dem power is limited there. Reconciliation allows budgets to pass without a filibuster, so dems only have power if Republicans infight. There's decent odds of Republicans infighting like the other prior times, so Dems still are planning to use their votes to get some protections against Trump's actions

That sounds good, except for the Dems track record of backing down and ending up voting for all the horrific bills anyway.

I would guess one with backbone could gum up the works for a short while. The CR, Republicans and establishment Democrats are the most immediate threat, that I can see.

They keep confirming the absolute worst cabinet and court picks, trying nothing but Kente cloths and trying to keep insider trading privileges while Martha Stewart with a paltry billion or so dollars at the time of her conviction, which apparently cut that worth in less than half, today, according to this Yahoo article, which was just the first return on a brief search.
