Same in every country it seems. The left are weaker than wet noodles and seem like they never understand the social aspect of politics. Might be why the left is the left.
They're social outcasts who end up associating with any other social pariahs like minority groups or other subcultures who the status quo try to suppress.
The status quo end up leaning right to enforce the current paradigms. These people tend to be more ingrained into the pop culture and have greater social capital and intelligence.
I always thought it had more to do with how the center/left are concerned about policy content and how it will affect systems and society, making decision making more complex and creating fragmentation. The right trends to compete by creating target groups or issues and uniting votes behind attacking them.
I think it boils down to blue jeans and letter jackets
Not saying what you're saying is wrong. What I am getting at is that its all about social groups.
The right are status quo, status quo is what is the dominate group. They're blue jeaned Americans. They are hyper focused on in and out groups. All sub groups want to be the dominate one so the dominate group is very focused on making sure they can identify their group and keep others out. It costs a lot of energy to change what is status quo yet everybody tries.
The left represent all the sub cultures trying to fight to change the status quo. They reject the blue jeans and letter jackets and instead represent what could be status quo. Sub cultures are all the minority groups, LGQTB and even groups like the disabled or just plain old social outcasts.
Its why I believe a lot of celebrities turn right when they make it. They get allowed into the group and their views change. They now have to protect the social order by rejecting any challenges to the order like trans rights, allowing minority clothing, hair and cultures from being main stream or allowing pokemonTCG from becoming a national sport.
I think all of politics makes more sense when viewed from a pop culture lens where sub groups fight to become dominate and the dominate culture struggles to maintain it's position in a fast changing modern world.
The left believes in the rule of law and playing fair while the right is will organized and lies and cheats to win then changes the rules in their favour.
That's not a good thing.
Lying and cheating is the social game. The left is losing people and power everyday. So at the end of the day maybe acting superior is going to be the death of the party.
I'm stuck rolling around the idea like a booger. What good is being good if it means the other people who cheat and lie and steal gain every advantage and succeed. I think Having moral and ethics only works when both parties are willing to meet on them. When it becomes clear that isn't happening maybe its time to play the game back.
The supreme court + abortion rights is a good example of taking the high road right to the grave
