No info on who, what or why

Modlog finds my account but doesn't link to anything to find out more:

mod Banned @boredtortoise from the community World News@lemmy.ml

reason: Sinophobia

expires: in 5 years

Edit: as the larger issue, when incorrect mod actions happen, shouldn't Lemmy have a system for handling those? Both transparency to the users, and ways to forward the action for an admin to fix

Why does anyone subscribe to new@lemmy.ml? It's run by tankies. Therefore very biased.

I browse by everything and don't pay much attention to subscriptions.

I've thought it to be the most widely federated world news community and have shared local news there and to similar communities on other instances. I didn't know of any mod wrongdoings earlier.

In general, lemmy.world communities have wider audiences as it's the biggest instance, and they show up as local for those people

Oh cool. Last I heard they had performance and federation issues. Thanks for the info

It's very stable lately, enjoy!

[–] boredtortoise@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Are they still deferated by some major instances?

[–] Blaze@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago

Just Beehaw, but Beehaw tends to defederate a lot

Even lemmy.ml has suffered the occasional server hiccup. Most of the big instances are pretty stable now though
