Immigrating to Canada and becoming a Canadian citizen has brought me euphoria, but has also led to some cultural clashes with my children that I never anticipated. While it has led to some discomfort, it has also changed my perspective in positive ways.

To be fair, some of the cultural shift she describes is only a generation and a bit old in Canada; I grew up having to say β€œsir” and nod my head to some of my teachers while talking to others on a first-name or nickname basis β€” and they were considered the counter-cultural ones at the time.
