Bernie Sanders May 08, 2025

[based on speech given to US Senate]

"Thursday marks 68 days and counting since ANY humanitarian aid was allowed into Gaza. For more than nine weeks, Israel has blocked all supplies: no food, no water, no medicine, and no fuel.

Hundreds of truckloads of lifesaving supplies are waiting to enter Gaza, sitting just across the border, but are denied entry by Israeli authorities.

... Defense Minister Israel Katz said, “Israel’s policy is clear: No humanitarian aid will enter Gaza, and blocking this aid is one of the main pressure levers.” "

I didn't realise China was providing arms to Israel. Because if they were, like they are providing arms to Russia, then they would be being at harped on, as they are. But there is one cuntry in particular that is enabling genocidal Israeli monsters. The US of fuckwitt A. Fuck Trump, Genocide Joe and every American who has allowed and continues to allow this heinous crime against humanity. You are the worst version of yourselves yet.

I don’t see Australia providing aid. Or even offering. Everyone wants to point a finger but the entire human race seems to not give a shit. Yeah, the largest arms manufacturer in the world provides arms to a lot of places, and that should stop being an export. The whole world should stop making guns.

And yeah we are a shitty version, and we are going to learn the hard way real soon.

No one can provide aid to Gaza unless Israel allow it. They will not. USA has vetoed all attempts to force a ceasefire through the UN, against the desires of almost every other country on the planet. The fingers are pointing for good reason. There is no indication Americans will learn anything. Except maybe how to live your best life under fascism. It must be frustrating. Australia is doing better, but not much. Our spineless leader still labels Israel as "a friend".

Has anyone tried? A big convoy full of supplies and white flags? Just enter through Rafah and bypass Israel. Heck the beach is pretty big.

But it’s gonna be hard to find a country who likes Muslims enough.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

Do you think that hasn't been tried yet?

Israel has shot, bombed, and attacked those flying white flags (including their own citizens), the red cross, medics, hospitals, those with press badges and identification, the un, and most recently an aid ship in the Mediterranean.

They got what they wanted. They derailed the thread and made it about themselves, rather than the actual victims of genocide the post referenced.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I'm still waiting for/half expecting them to soon say Israel is doing nothing wrong its everyone else's fault

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 7 hours ago

Maybe. Either way, they seem genuinely distressed like the emotions have mastered them, rather than the other way around and I get that because I've been there. I see it a lot on Lemmy and IRL. Sometimes we just need to get away from media and people, spend time being still, silencing the chaos, doing some deep self-Reflexion, and doing whatever real self-care (rather than distraction /doom scrolling) is within our means. Can you imagine if a few heads of state did that for a weekend?! We'd be closer to world peace than we've been in a century.

Clearly they need to stream it live.

This is a lady in a wig talking. This is not an armada of ships announcing their plans in advance, showing up while streaming video, and proving that they cannot get to shore.

Frankly, I doubt a good number of these attempts. Put it on Netflix and you’ll roll right in untouched.

You should try reading up on the aid efforts that have been made.
