The tariffs put pressure on companies with cross-border supply chains to either move all of their manufacturing into or out of the US. Since the US doesn’t have enough infrastructure right now and US citizens wouldn’t want to work in those factories anyway, the tariffs are essentially killing what little manufacturing the US had left.
