At this point? Nothing. If LeBron wanted to try and pull away he needed to try it when he was at least in the argument for best active player. The power in trying to split off (and getting others to fund it because you need outside money) is if the NBA's status as the best players in the world is in question. Current LeBron is not good enough to do that.
This came up during the lockout season he was in Miami. It makes little sense and the best case scenario is he makes a quick buck while destroying a league that creates a bunch of new millionaires every year.
And in ten years what's to stop the next best player from opening his own league? I think the best way forward is to buy NBA teams and then they can make the rules.
I would agree with that. My point was more back then he might have had the slimmest of chances of success but now there is 0% chance (instead of 0.001%)
