[Question] What makes a watch “good”? (alien.top)

Hello everyone,

Newbie here and trying to learn more about watches. wanted to get your opinions on what makes a watch good? Is it the movement? The brand? Or just purely aesthetics?

Right now I only judge purely on aesthetic only and I guess by the “Brand”. No clue on the engineering/movement/engine of watches. Any recommendations on where I can start learning?

If you want to start delving into the engineering aspect I'd recommend watching watch repair channels on youtube. There are a lot of them, and besides being oddly therapeutic and ASMR-y they're usually very informative.

Personal favorites are Nekkid Watchmaker, Red Dead Restoration and Wristwatch Revival but there are others just as good.
