I know that the Chinese have a bad reputation for their manufacturing practices , and for the most part there’s lots of cheap ones where quality is little more than a suggestion. However, I’ve gotten some decent ones. I’ve bought some quartz watches form the usual contender AliExpress and even some mechanical ones and I’ve been shocked by the quality of these sub $100 watches.

Quartz is fine, but I'm skeptical about Chinese mechanical movement's durability (lots of online complaints about soft metals in the movement) and my ability to find a watchmaker that can source a new movement for a swap.

They have really been stepping up their game on the design tho
