I know that the Chinese have a bad reputation for their manufacturing practices , and for the most part there’s lots of cheap ones where quality is little more than a suggestion. However, I’ve gotten some decent ones. I’ve bought some quartz watches form the usual contender AliExpress and even some mechanical ones and I’ve been shocked by the quality of these sub $100 watches.

Almost every watch case below luxury level is made in China. Ditto with dials, hands, crystals etc. Even Swiss Made. A $400 Tissot is not actually made in Switzerland, other than the movement, and even then it's just assembly required, not all the parts.

There is a reason the FHS, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry, Eta, and others have offices in Hong Kong.
