People are often over a relationship long before it's actually over, especially if one party is abusive or the relationship is toxic (with or without someone's fault).
I could've well been that friend, because nobody knew that I took my breaking up back and stayed in the relationship until my ex broke up with me because he was threatening suicide if I broke up with him.
You're right, there are complex cases, and often as externals we know nothing.
I was thinking more of the 'playboy' guy who keep changing girls because they get boring.
If it keeps happening from the same person, it becomes increasingly unlikely that their situation is like mine, yeah
