Some Rules

Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
Don't promote proprietary software
Try to keep things on topic
If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

What do you think of coupon services like retailmenot? (lemmy.world)

I usually don’t try using coupons since many of the codes shown on websites don’t work, but I feel bad for not trying hard or smart enough. I’ve heard good things about Retailmenot, I haven’t tried it yet but I wondering if there are privacy trade-offs.

The usual measures, like avoiding their browser extensions and cookies, should keep you in the clear for the most part. The last time I had a code from Honey, Retailmenot, or Groupon work for a major site like eBay and Amazon was maybe in 2021. Stopped trying later that year. They've mostly cracked down on it in favor of automatic discounts.
