What's enshittified about them? I tried an ID.4 for a few days recently and it was quite nice. I also had a ride in a Model 3 and the oversized screen hit me in the knee. Also I don't think the VW has overhyped self driving which tries to kill you, like Tesla does. So at first glance I'm leaning towards the VW if I was to buy a car right now. What did I miss?
Yeah that reads bad in retrospect, not trying to call Kia out explicitly, just broadly stating that car companies in general need to take a step back and look at WHY Tesla was so popular. The whole thing boils down to a counterculture movement against cat culturep. It's the ultimate "my car is a tool / function over form" vehicle for commuters. It's why the Y outsold the Camry. Hell, I'm shopping around FOR a Kia at the moment 😆, probably why their name was top of my head.
They keep trying to make tesla-like cars for people who don't value function-over-form and it sours the general sentiment on them. Tesla made waves with th bS because it appealed to function-over-form gearheads, who don't give a shit what's under the hood as long as its fast.
I think Kia is the leader in the "electric for regular people" with be a close second, but they have those subscription shenanigans they're doing so, fuckem.
