Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

And it’s another goddamn compact SUV

[–] rainwall@piefed.social 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'd call that just an SUV, but yeah it's just more of the same.

The US compact SUV designation is different than the rest of the world, apparently. The RAV4 is a "compact crossover SUV." 🤷

I mean, when "SUV" also has to include the Yukon XL...

"Crossovers" are such a mess that I just look at dimensions, not segments, at this point.

The rest of the world does not know what a Yukon XL is.

I call them JUHBs. Jacked up hatchbacks.

All the interior space of a hatch back, but with worse handling and efficiency due to being pointlessly higher off the ground.

I'm glad the EV game is getting away from small cute cars. I need a family wagon. Something for 4-5 people and a ton of groceries or luggage. Don't care if it's an SUV or a station wagon.

When our current car is done there will hopefully be some suitable EV on the used market.

Well it’s gonna be an suv because they don’t make wagons anymore.

And in the process SUVs look more and more like wagons.

because its all people goddamn buy.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

No, because they are allowed to skirt emissions regulations by making the car massive.

And because you make more profit per sale for more expensive goods. And cars aren't easy to sell in bulk.

That's why every car is massive in the US

People are literally the worst.
