I’m new to using EQ. I find I have to increase the volume going from no EQ to loading an EQ profile. Do I increase the preamp back to 0db, or leave it and increase the main volume?

Try to add like 15 db in the bass region and put pre-amp to 0, then play a bassy song. You'll get a good idea of what happens when you don't decrease the pre-amp to compensate for the volume increase. Ofc, that's just an extreme example, may not be as noticeable with typical EQ profiles.

It gets so boomy, looks like fake china headphones, or better, gives you a experience of how Razer Blackshark V2X is, pure trash
