Looks like the start of another great season for Maxey, who is fast becoming the only bit of good news for a Sixers locker room in flux.

But I do wonder, can Maxey be more than that? Maybe he can be the franchise player that the Sixers need for a fresh start? And if that question is valid, can we go further and say: might as well get the most out of an Embiid trade and start the Maxey process asap

Basically am just curious about how the fans rate Maxey. Is he a real deal like Ant, or just another young all star in the making?

His ceiling is probably current Devin Booker. We haven’t seen what is he like as the first option yet.

Harden is a lot more different. Even though Harden is a scoring juggernaut, his playmaking is really elite which I don’t see Maxey being.

Yeah not even Luka is worthy of the next Harden title yet. Maxey becoming Booker would be great, but that’s still not good enough to win as a first option without extraordinary luck or a 1b player+other great teammates. If I were the Sixers FO, I would ride it out with Embiid for 2-4 more years.

Problem with that is Embiid turns 30 in March and has a $59m Player Option in another 2yrs.

At that point Embiid will be 32yrs old (turning 33 mid season) while looking for big money with a history of injuries and now getting into the twilight years of his career.

If the Sixers strike out this Offseason with their Cap Space they should really look into flipping Embiid’s final 2yrs(+1yr Player Option) to a team like OKC.

Trading Embiid to OKC would give them their 2025 1st back which has Protections until 2026.

Then the Sixers could take a 2yr mini rebuild before they have to worry about owing the Nets a Top 8 Protected 1st in 2027/28.

Or they could go the Miami route and try to get Bam if they want to continue to compete since OKC owns Sixers Top 6 Protected 1st in 2025 and Top 4 Protected in 2026. Then the Nets 1st’s that Philly still owes them.
