I can kind of picture how the conversation before this must have gone:

"Okay everybody I'm going to shoot this scene personally."

"Wait why? Fred's a great cameraman do you think he can't get this shot?"

" No no I just really want to be behind the camera for this pivotal scene. Super important that I get a close-up view I mean the audience gets a close-up view of these feet."
