One reason I would see is that the home renovation industry is out of control in Canada. They spiked prices because of covid shortages, and got addicted to the money, then these programs.

it's to the point now that a quote from these guys includes flyers on how to apply for a HELOC, which was another source of renovation hyper-inflation.
