If you don't need a plot reason for a male character to have a wife, then you don't need a plot reason for a male character to have a husband.

Hmmm, your quotation marks are rendering as commas on my client. I thought you just put commas at the start for some random reason.

In languages like German the opening quotes start at the bottom „...“ and closing quotes go to the top. In Russian they can look like «this».

Just someone typing on English with a keyboard not directly mapped to the keyboard you are used to.
