Home automation is the residential extension of building automation.

It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Memos MSS315 power monitoring without internet access (alien.top)

Hey folks,
I've got some Meross Smart Plugs (MSS315) for my apartment and overall I'm really happy with them. The only issue I experienced is, when I disable internet access for them in my router (FritzBox), I can't use the power monitor feature in the Meross App anymore, even when I'm in the same Wifi. When internet access is allowed, its working properly.

On/Off functions via App or HomeKit are not affected by missing internet access permission.
Also every other Meross product I own works flawlessly without internet access.

Has somebody of you made the same experience and figured out how to bypass this limitation?

I don't think its necessary that the Meross products have full access to the internet since they are IoT devices.

fyi, Matter now supports energy monitoring as of the 1.2 specification release. Hopefully products like the one OP is using get updated firmware that uses the new Matter capabilities.
