- Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
- Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
- No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. - Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

honestly yes, defunding ICE, would be like dismantling the SS in germany. which did happen after WW2, along with the gestapo. they were declared a criminal organization, who committed crimes against humanity.
did all of them suffer for it? no, many of them were reabsorbed into other programs and orgs for the cold war by allies and even germany itself.
but those were only the valuable or lucky members (think project paper clip). most of the remaining less valuable members without good enough connections either fled or faced the nuremburg trials. even those that fled faced trials for decades afterwards.
ICE, if the progressives ever win, will likely be "dismantled" due to public outcry, if not that, its funding will be dramatically reduced to pre trump levels or lower, and those funds put into different agencies, and its less important members will either be absorbed into things like the military, "less extreme" border agencies, the police, national guard, etc. while ones who are proven to have commited terrible acts will likely be charged, if they dont flee in some form afterwards.
this of course is a "hopeful" outlook, history may repeat itself from time to time, but sometimes it plays the telephone game with itself. this is not a blue print, but a potential outcome based on history.
i guess we'll see. but i HIGHLY doubt the next election will be fair, or have a progressive outcome.
there will likely be a full blown civil war before another "fair" election is had again.
If the US has another Civil War, it shouldn't reunite as one country again. Too vast a gap in values.
No no no. The side that is full of fascists must go. The country stays together. I ain't running away cos somebody else is a fascist - the fascists should be made to go away.
Yeah. Fascists will invent a neighbor just to have somewhere to villanize, pilfer, and enslave.
It's like they want to stay high on coke basically, but the coke is slavery and fear.
Fascism is basically poison ivy.
That's just what Putin wants. Also, it's a very bad idea. I want those fuckers driven from power, and effective measures in place to keep them out. Everywhere in the US. I'll be damned if I accept that even a small number of decent people should be put under perpetual rule of those assholes. That's betrayal of our fellow countryment and of our values.
It's also accepting their framing and handing them a partial victory when they have done nothing to deserve any concession at all.
