Then he retires with $110m in career earnings.

He has made 72mil already. Another 38mil is not worth my neck. He can do plenty with 72 to make more money without football.

Depends on the contract.

Alex smith came back I swear just to spite Dan Snyder. While on injured reserves they get a portion of the game check, which is more than they would get if they retire. If you are going to go through a long rehab anyway you might as well do it while getting paid. Sure you aren’t getting another contract but you might as well get as much of your contract as you can.

You should be getting your full game check. All contracts are injury garunteed in the NFL. The only thing you'd miss would be performance incentives but those are in the minority.
