Never understood the appeal either. I set an alarm maybe once a year, if it's unavoidable. Otherwise "waking up" is the best time. And as a night-owl that might be varying much 😁

The issue I always run into is I progressively go to bed later and later until I just cycle through the 24-hour period.

That said, 'wouldn't actually be a problem if I didn't have to work…

Hehe, know that problem. Did it all the time too. Until Wifey. She's an early-bird and I try to somehow "meet" her in the middle :-)

And luckily we don't need to work, so we can.
