I know some people would prefer their team not acknowledge this thing is happening at all, but all NBA teams seem to raise banners for trivial things like division titles and so forth. So there's zero chance that anyone besides maybe the Celtics and Lakers) won't raise a banner for winning an NBA Cup. I suspect the NBA will mandate they acknowledge it. All of the WNBA teams do with the Commissioners Cup, even the consistently successful Storm and the Aces.
The NBA going all-in on this in-season tournament thing from court branding to ads and so forth, means that there's zero chance teams won't be selling "NBA Cup Champions" merch and raising banners for it.
WNBA teams seem to raise their Commissioners Cup banners at mid-season with little-to-no fanfare, but I feel like NBA teams will be more superstitious and not coordinated.
You wouldn't want to raise a NBA Cup banner before the post-season ends, because if you're going to win the NBA title, you'd prefer to raise them all at the same time the following year. But if a play-in type team goes on a crazy run and wins the whole thing, they might want to celebrate it like a kind of a championship and perhaps you raise the banner at the end of the current regular season?
What say you all?
I swear if the sixers win…
