In the meantime, however, people without a German passport are so clearly overrepresented in criminal offense statistics in Germany that the issue can no longer be denied. Although they only make up around 17% of the population, foreign nationals were registered as suspects in almost 42% of crimes reported in Germany. This is according to the police crime statistics for the year 2024, which the Ministry of the Interior published on April 2.

That's unfortunately not true.

"Police suspect and arrest more brown people than white people because they are racist bigots. More shocking news at 11."

Any overrepræsentation of immigrants, racial minorities etc in crime statistics tend to be due to prejudiced and otherwise abusive enforcement and targeting by cops and politicians, and Germany is no exception.

It's like you skipped over a whole paragraph.

Is that the author's opinion, or is it actually backed up by data?

Contrary to all the stupid crap in the comments, these data is luckily publicly accessible in Germany. Per city if wanted. If one should desire the truth over racism or prejudice, they can. And, the truth might surprise, at least in the case of the city-cluster I live in.

This is according to the police crime statistics
