I grew marijuana and was an habitual user (all day every day) for apx 7 yrs. I liked getting high but found that I was always in a foggy haze from the grass growing around my brain. I felt disconnected from reality and though my relationships did not suffer, I knew I was not 100% present to my wife, son and business.
In September I decided to stop using every day and to only partake socially with friends once in a while. It hasn't been easy. It's totally a mind game. Thankfully weed isnt addictive, but coming off of it after using so long caused me some anxiety, mostly changes to sleep and eating. After a few nights of vivid dreams (i never dreamt on weed) and loss of appetite, I was able to regulate and start feeling normal.
I started a business almost 6 years ago and it became successful pretty quickly even though I was stoned 24/7. Since I stopped using weed every day, I feel like I am more connected with my business, with my wife and my son and I think they notice an improvement as well. I do feel more present and less disconnected.
This winter I am going to start implementing my marketing plan and focus on growing my business. My wife and I date more, talk more and make love more than when I was stoned all the time. My relationship with my son is better too.
It's not easy to change your behavior after being in a pattern for so long, but it is a mind game. I talk to a therapist once a week and that has helped!
Good luck with your journey!
