The community can mostly feel like it was skimmed off the top layer of ornery “erm, aktually” types from Reddit. The etiquette here is what you would expect from that. The days of “remembering the human” are dead and buried.
Like all places online, people and sub-communities vary, but that’s mostly the vibe I get whenever browsing the comments of just about anything that hits my instance’s All page.
I’ll take it any day over dealing with Reddit Inc’s chicanery, I guess.
I much prefer the "urhm akctchually" here to the content farming there
yeah nah I agree
Lemmy still has its flaws at times, nowhere is perfect or fills the hole other spaces online that have gone shit have left
I can at least take solace in knowing that there are like, actual people here. even if some of them suck sometimes
absoloutely I prefer arguing with ignorant and stubborn people (or jerks) than bots and trolls
