I've only read "The Road"

I am in no way put off by dark storylines or depressive themes and thought it was great, haunting and merciless in its imagery.

Any more suggestions by him?

If you’re looking for another book that leans into those traits, Blood Meridian is the move.

McCarthy spent a staggering amount of energy researching the historical context and setting, so if those interest you, I can’t recommend Pekka Hamalainen’s (nonfiction) Comanche Empire strongly enough as a companion piece. It’s a beautiful condensation of the mindsets, lifestyles, and economic forces working on all the players in the narrative.
