Just posting so that people with apps which don't properly display crossposting know that there are more comments and posts regarding this topic!

Also, what link to ML?

[–] cm0002@lemmings.world -1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There's no such app, they all have the crosspost menu afaik, if you know of one, lmk even though you still havent

[–] AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You were exploitly told the apps where users weren't seeing it before and chalked it up to an "image linking issue", so I'm just helping other users avoid that in the future!

I propose boycott of servers that allow this obnoxious fed behavior

[–] cm0002@lemmings.world 0 points 2 days ago (2 children)

No I wasn't lmao tell me the front end or app that doesn't show the crosspost menu, should be easy since you're so sure

Jerboa, I miss all the crossposts

[–] cm0002@lemmings.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

https://github.com/LemmyNet/jerboa/issues/1666

Lol I remember the buggy mess that is Jerboa, even now I installed it fresh to login and check the crosspost for you and...it crashed and reopening it works and shows logged in but I can't do anything because apparently my account is being verified lmao

Jerboa is essentially alpha maybe beta, and dessalines has stated he doesn't have the time to work on it between Lemmy server and Lemmy UI

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

That's weird, I don't have that problem. Wonder if it's some kind of incompatibility with your instance? What other open source clients are people using

[–] cm0002@lemmings.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Idk but I just kept tapping the profile button and then it just started working lmfao

You're right, this is the first app I've seen that actually does not show a crosspost menu, the absolute irony that it's the official Lemmy android app lolol

Maybe if I have some time this weekend I could fix it myself and see if dessalines will merge it lol

Can I ask why you stick with Jerboa? Years ago I used it because it was the most functional at the time of the great Reddit migration, but it was so buggy I stopped using Lemmy altogether for like 2 months until Boost came out

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That would be pog, would appreciate that feature

I really don't experience much in the way of bugs, only that it doesn't handle instances going offline very well. It's open source, free, runs well and doesn't drain battery, and has a layout that's intuitive. It hasn't slowed down or got laggy over time. I like that I can very easily swap between my accounts on various instances, each with their own sets of settings. I haven't noticed any missing features apart from the cross posting

I haven't tried any other clients since I installed it, but back then like you said there weren't many others

It shouldn't matter that I'm linking to other posts, though, especially for those using screen readers that otherwise have no idea!

[–] cm0002@lemmings.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It has to do with the proxying URLs on images [A rare instance related issue]

On the clients that were mentioned:

Here's Thunder

Here's the dbzer0 web interface

All with proper crossposting menus, anything else you'd like to misrepresent or lie about?

[–] AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

It's like that's almost exactly what I mentioned you said, and exactly why I'm commenting proper links to older posts! It fixes the proxying issue you mention to include it in the post, so I'm happy I can be of assistance. I'm still not sure why it's so upsetting to you when users link back to other posts in the comments, especially when you weren't the first one to post it. It helps drive conversation when people know it's happening elsewhere.

[–] cm0002@lemmings.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not sure why you'd want to forward traffic to an instance who has admins that are transphobic and push Russian propaganda but you do you, I can't stop you :)

[–] AmbiguousProps@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Guessing you missed the fact that there were other links in there, and I only linked to ML because you got the crosspost from there originally. Nice use of transphobia as a tool against a trans person, though!
