Former Austinite here. Alamo Drafthouse essentially went out of business and got bought. This is Alamo Drafthouse in name only.

We had one in Omaha before Covid absolutely destroyed their big expansion and triggered the resulting sale. It was SO GOOD before that. Now it’s just a sad reminder of what once was.

Oh, shoot. I was hoping to catch something there next time I was in town to compare to the Texas and Des Moines markets' Flix Brewhouse. I only recently started going to theaters post-covid and am liking Flix.

It’s still pretty good, but the pre-shows lost much of their sparkle and creativity. The food went from really good to pretty good. Kind of like Panera - the food there is still decent, but it was better before private equity bought them up.

My last truly great film going experience was at the Ritz for the Hateful 8 roadshow shown on 70mm with an intermission and 3 themed courses. I was devastated hearing the bankruptcy news.
