Discord stated that it will not be proceeding with Persona for identity verification.

I think they are still going to do it, just not with Persona. This article was embedded in the one posted and is linked in the part that says “Discord stated it will not be going forward with Persona”. Looks like they experimented with Persona as a trial. But there is nowhere that says Discord opted not to do age verification with K-ID or maybe some other service.
