Pet Rocks. It was a craze in the 1970s. Gary Dahl created a business concept in 1975, marketing ordinary rocks from Rosario, Mexico, to be sold as pets. They were a solid if brief cultural phenomenon.

I actually had that exact idea years earlier, but decided it had to be the dumbest idea in the world.

Imagine my surprise when they actually became a thing and that bastard became a millionaire with my idea.
