Since the AMD model has started shipping, the internet has been flooded with benchmarks and reviews going in depth on whether you should go with the i7 or Ryzen 7.

I am specifically looking to compare the base models (the 15-1340P and the Ryzen 5 7640U). Price is the same, so which of the two will provide better performance and which will provide better life? I don't think the efficiency and power draw of the beefier models is a good predictor.

I know I can't be the only one buying the midrange processor, but I can't find any comparisons. Does anyone have any comparisons or experiences or opinions that may be helpful?

I was in the same position and I felt I’d be happier with AMD. The CPU comparison shows the AMD one is just a little bit better. I decided the top end Ryzen not really worth it as I am not going to be using it for gaming.
