Long story short I’m contracted to produce content for a client. Contract outlines the scope of work and mentions I’ll be required to carry out additional ‘ad hoc tasks’ which lists content related things.

I’m being asked to give a hand serving drinks for an event of theirs and client is stating that this is classed as ‘adhoc’

Now, within my business I have an events service which includes this kind of thing

I told my client that if they want me to do this then they would need to pay for that service separate to our arrangement because it is at a different price point than the hourly price I’m being paid for content

They have refused to pay anything extra and are saying that this is under adhoc tasks which is in my contract

I think this is very unfair to push and I do not want to be taken advantage of (I am fairly new to business/freelancing)

How do I go about revisiting this with client as the event is fast approaching and I’m definitely am not doing it

Have you reread your contract? Is it listed under the ad hoc things. I would get rid of the client. He’s not paying you what you deserve he’s asking for services that are inappropriate and only gonna behave. Worse from here. He’s pulling a fast one I would break off the business relationship. I mean this is shockingly inappropriate on his part.
