I had a pair of Sennheisser HD660S that I tried to sing over to no avail, however my new/used sony MDR-Z1R pair is letting me sing over it with my deep voice.

Can anyone shine a light on why an open back wouldn't and a closed back is?

Also, IDK guys, the general opinion of owners is that it is the greatest you can get when your listening to anything and everything. Especially popular music.

I mean guys, any idea why I'm being downvoted? Like... I get why you could get something a little extra with something else. However, what are you missing with this headphone?

it's just a matter of taste. I doubt many here have even tried them tbh.. every brand has fanboys and haters, Sony is no exception. I really like their build quality (have 1AM2's and Z7M2's) and wear one or the other over 8 hours when stuck in the office, both are super comfortable and I am accustomed to their tonality. Enjoy what you enjoy.
