In a statement, Blouin said the change is due to evolving defence modernization priorities and military priorities. He said this shift includes the divestment of the legacy artillery systems that are used to manage Rogers Pass.

The avalanches are still getting prevented, the CAF is handling it. The artillery equipment is old and needs to be phased out in place of whatever is replacing it. The design is ww2 so it's overdue for replacement. Does suck about the practice being cut though
